Frequently asked questions.
are there age limits for the scenic and charter flights?
There are no age limits. If you have a child under the age of two you are welcome to hold them in your lap or we can also install a carseat in the plane.
what is the best time of year to fly?
Salt Lake City has on average 222 sunny days a year, so we are able to fly all year long. The summer has great consistent flying weather with lots of sunshine. The fall has the trees changing color and comfortable temperatures. The winter turns the mountains white with snow and we don’t have density altitude issues anymore. The spring is a combination of summer and winter conditions with snow covered mountains but sunshine and warmer temps down in the valley.
what if the weather doesn’t cooperate?
We prioritize flying in good weather. We often shift flights around as needed to fly in the best part of the day to avoid bumps and wind when able.
I’ve never flown before, can I get my pilots license here?
At this time we do not offer training for student pilots. We recommend you get your private pilot license at a traditional flight school and give us a call after for advanced training. There are exceptions to this rule, for example if you would like to see what backcountry or tailwheel flying is all about prior to working on your private pilot license. In that scenario an intro flight with us would be appropriate.
can my significant other sit in the back during my lesson?
It is an option, but most clients don’t learn as well with their partner in the backseat. If they really want to tag along, I recommend joining for a flight or two, but not every flight as it’s a distraction from your training.
Can we camp out during my multi-day backcountry lesson?
Absolutely! Camping with clients is one of my favorite things to do. We have a full collection of camping gear we can provide. Whenever possible I like to work an airplane camping adventure into the syllabus.
What happens if the plane I’m supposed to train in has a maintenance issue during my trip.
If our second airplane is available, we always give you the option to use that. If there is no other airplane available, you will be offered a refund or the chance to re-schedule your flight.
How do I know what is the right course to book?
If you have any questions at all, please contact us and we will help you pick the right course to accomplish your goals.
I’m a pilot in another country but don’t have an FAA license, can I still train with you?
Of course! Since you will be flying with a licensed flight instructor, you do not need to have an FAA license or medical.
Do you offer refunds for my training deposit?
Yes, your deposit is refundable.
